This absolutely looks like something that would chase you in an MR James story…

It’s carved of bone. Clay, wooden and bone dolls even when driven through with nails have not historically been used for malevolence – they have instead been used in the hope of love or curing diseases. This is probably a spell and a good one at that. English witchcraft is the history that sewed ‘poppets’ or dolls and used them for malevolent purposes. A simulacrum of a person made from bone, clay, horn or ivory was usually to empower or cure disease or inspire love.
