The Growling.

vici0us-glam submitted:

I’ve had a few paranormal encounters in my life but this one takes the cake and I’ve never doubted the existence of other things since this happened.

One night in high school I was sleeping over my friends house, we had always been into ghost stuff and as per usual were watching an episode of ghost hunters. We decided since her house was quite old that we would go in her room and record an EVP session ( young and foolish I might add ). Anyway nothing was happening and in those shows they always try and taunt the ghosts into showing themselves, so I tried it out. I don’t remember exactly what I said but something along the lines of “if you’re real show yourself, prove it, make me believe”. Nothing happened. It was late and we decided to go to bed. As we’re settling in I hear in a low whisper “Amanda”. (My name) I told my friend to cut it out that I knew it was her and don’t get my hopes up. “What are you talking about”? I confronted her, she denied it and I was tired so I just went to bed.

I woke up with the strangest feeling, the hairs on the back of my neck were sticking straight up, before this I never really knew what that expression meant. I knew something wasn’t right. I looked over at the iPod dock and it read 2:03 am. We had left the radio on and bring me to life by evanescence was playing, very ironic in retrospect. It was dark and I couldn’t see the floor but I felt something staring at me, I just knew it. I scooted closer to the wall and tried to brush it off. Then I began to hear a low growl. I tried to reason with myself “it’s her dog, there’s an animal outside etc.” The growl grew louder. And louder. I tried to push it away, at this point I was terrified but not willing to wake my friend up. Suddenly I hear a cat being ripped apart. I hear it’s screams, the pain, the growling. “Oh my god he cat is in here and something is eating it”! I could ignore my own feelings but I couldn’t ignore the death of an animal. I grabbed my friends leg and began to scream. “TURN THE LIGHT ON! TURN IT ON, BLOO IS BEING EATEN, THERES SOMETHING IN THE ROOM”! She quickly in a haze switched on the bedroom light, and there was nothing. Nothing in the room but us. No cat, no dog, no stray animal that had found its way in. The floor was completely bare.

My friend made fun of me for years about it. “You had a nightmare, quick turn on the light”, shit like that. I knew what I had heard but it was crazy so I let it be.

Years went by, we graduated highschool, were in college and working at the same coffee shop. I’m working one day and she comes running in, “AMANDA, I’m so sorry”! Confused I asked her what she was talking about, and in a dead serious face and voice she says “I heard it, I heard the growling”.

James: 7/10 for scares. Your friend sucks for lying all that time. She’s been living a lie, THERE’S NOTHING INSIDE! bring… me… to… life. What a banger. Thanks for sharing!
