The Grinning Man
I’ve always been able to sense entities since I was little, but as the years passed I’ve lost the ability to see them very clearly, so usually I just ‘sense’ them. I’m also the only one in my family who can.
About two years ago my dad passed away and he passed away really suddenly overseas, so I was alone in our family house for a few days while the rest of our family members went to collect his things. Anyway, our house is pretty old and I’ve always known that there were at least three entities in my house, though none of them ever gave me feelings of being threatened. I grew up there since I was born so I’ve gotten used to them but during the days I was alone in the house, things went really weird.
The usual things that suggested a spirit was there happened, lights flickering in the places my dad would be in most, the sound of the doorbell around the time my dad would get home with no one there, the sound of my dad’s car pulling in the driveway with no one there, so on and so forth. So for a day I thought it was my dad that was lingering, but I found it weird that I couldn’t sense anything familiar in the house, and I felt like the other usual entities were gone.
When I went up the stairs, (all our bedrooms are on the second floor) I suddenly had a sickening feeling in my stomach and my movements felt sluggish. I had never felt anything like that before, and I felt a chill run down my spine and warning signals came up in my head. When I reached my dad’s room, the door was open and when I looked inside I saw an extremely tall black figure in my dad’s room right in the corner. It was so tall it reached he ceiling and looked like a man wearing a long black cloak made of smoke but he had no eyes or mouth or anything . Even then I could tell he was grinning at me, mocking me. Right there and then I ran out of my house to my best friend’s place to stay the night.
The next day I went home, it was gone. I still don’t know what it is but I believe that it was a demon or malicious spirit of some kind that tried to trick me into believing it was my father. I fear I may have accidentally summoned it when I prayed for ‘any sign that my dad is still here’.
FYNK James: 8/10 Yeah thinking that the spirit was trying to imitate your dad to get into the house is spooky as hell. Like, reading it that way, it gets creepier upon second glance. Thanks for sharing the scares!
