The Dream

another-day-in-may submitted:

Now before I tell you this story, I want you to know you may be opening yourself up to a similar experience. Trust me, that’s not something you want.
I’ll refer to the experience as a dream because I hope to god that that’s all it was, for my own sanity.
You’ve been warned.

A little backstory: I live with my boyfriend who works night shift at the local grocery Store so he goes to work about 11pm-8am. We have large dogs so we’d always felt safe enough to leave the doors unlocked, not anymore.

The night started off fairly normally, I crawled into bed just as my boyfriend was leaving for work. My dog was curled up on top of the blankets next to my thighs on the inside of the bed. I fell asleep fairly quickly.
I don’t know what it was exactly that woke me up, Maybe my subconscious just knew there was something terribly wrong. I opened my eyes to darkness and that hair raising feeling of being watched. It took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust but once they did I became paralyzed with fear.
There just by my knees was a mans figure perched on the edge of the bed. He was facing me, through the darkness I could see no defining details about him except for the fact that he seemed to be wearing a hat of some sort with a medium brim. He was leaning toward me; slightly resting his hand on the bed on the other side of my knees. Just watching me. I felt it then, the heaviness of the air that only comes from something horribly evil being present. Terror wracked through my body at that moment. My first thought was ‘holy shit there is a demon in my room.’ Demons scare me more than anything (seriously you can’t really fight them, so you’re kinda fucked). I began to physically shake with fear but the man didn’t seem to notice. That’s when I remembered my dog, I flashed my eyes over to her to find her sleeping soundly. Not inches away from the mans hand. This comforted me slightly; everyone knows dogs freak out in the presence of the supernatural.
I won’t be able to do this next part justice, I’ve sat here for several minutes trying to think the proper way to describe it to you. It felt as if my mind had been turned to mush. Or like I had been drugged. Intense confusion and fear wracked my being and my whole body tensed, the muscles in my back straining as I looked up at ceiling. Spots blurred my vision.

It was too much for me to handle and I blacked out. When I woke up next the man was no where to be seen but I felt like some how he was still there, watching me. the feeling of being drugged remained but it was diminished quite a bit.

For the first time in a long time I prayed.

FYNK James: 9/10 Those wide-brim hat fuckers always scare me. Something about their attire. Thanks for sharing the scares!
