The Doppelgänger

All my life I have been very attuned to the paranormal/spiritual. I’ve had a hand full of memorable experiences since I was a toddler and this would be my clearest memory of anything to do with the paranormal. It was in Colorado. At the time, I was most likely 7 years old or so. I was sleeping over at my best friend’s house, like I had done many of times before. It was around 8’o’clock, the house was still bustling with my friend’s mom watching tv, all lights on and other family members hanging around the kitchen. I was never afraid in this house and I never saw anything of the paranormal sort before. My friend and I decided to play some hide and seek. I started out as the seeker and my friend went off to find a place to hide. The house wasn’t very big so there were very few places to hide. The only spaces we could play in was the living room and the hallway that led to a bathroom, and two bedrooms. As I was counting down I heard my friend giggle in the direction of the hallway. I started off going down the hallway checking the bathroom. Once again, I heard an even clearer giggle in my friend’s bedroom that was at the end of the hallway. I went into the bedroom and heard the same giggle underneath the bunkbed. Fyi, the room is a mess and the floor was covered in toys, so it took a little effort to finally get a good look underneath the bed. I was on my hands and knees pushing a few things out of the way and then I saw my friend laying there…but it then it wasn’t her, because at that moment her skin turned pale blue and her eyes sank into black empty sockets. Whatever it was, lurched its head and hands towards me while opening its black mouth unnaturally wide, screeching. I immediately ran out of the room, back to the living room. I could still hear its screech as I ran away. I was so shocked that I didn’t scream or cry. Shortly after, my friend came out of a cabinet/closet in the hallway because she waited long enough. The cabinet was at the beginning of the hallway, in other words, the opposite side of where I heard those giggles and saw what I saw. It was so clear that I remember its quick jerky movements, the blueish green veins around its eye sockets and the sound of its screaming even now. It was so real. I’ve never seen it since and I’ve never told my friend.

FYNK James: 8/10 Giggling is a tell-tale sign of spookiness! Thanks for sharing the scares!
