The Stanley Hotel

ESTES PARK, Colorado

With its Georgian architecture and stately beauty, The Stanley Hotel is most known for being haunted. It’s not just rumors or vague campfire like stories that have gave it its reputation plus the fact that Stephen King was so spooked after his visit he penned The Shining.

Countless guests have seen strange occurrences that cannot be discounted, lights turning on and off, doors opening and closing, laughter, footsteps, chills and drafts have cemented The Stanley’s reputation as one of the most haunted hotels in America.

Longtime employees will admit to at least four spirits that regularly walk the hotel’s corridors, halls and rooms. Lucy, Eddie, Paul, and Elizabeth, none of whose playful personalities made the final cut in King’s story, may be eternal guests of the hotel. In essence though, they seem to just be dedicated, die-hard employees and travelers.

Elizabeth Wilson who was the chief housekeeper during an early summer storm in 1911, was injured in an explosion as she was lighting the acetylene lanterns in room 217. She survived with both ankles broken, but to this day takes special care of room 217’s guests, maybe even Steve King, who stayed there just days before Stanley closed for the winter.

King is said to have encountered a young child during his stay, though there were no children staying there at the time. Guests have reported items moved, luggage unpacked, and lights being turned on and off.

The Concert Hall also is a hot spot for paranormal activity. Paul was a jack-of–all-trades, who’s job was to enforce the hotel’s 11 p.m. curfew. One night in 2005 he experienced chest pains and died of a heart attack while going from the hotel to the hospital.

A construction worker repairing the floors a few years ago, believes Paul physically nudged him to the door after feeling two arms pull him back. Paul is also known to flicker the flashlights of touring groups.

Courthouse Security Camera films Ghost

Officials in Wiscasset, Maine are still puzzled over this footage of what appears to be a ghost moving through their courthouse.

The footage was filmed in 2011 and was found after workers there where checking out some problems with the courthouse security cams.

It all happened in the Lincoln County Courthouse which has a history as long as Maine has been a state. The county sheriff said that the court house once had jail cells, and at one time prisoner were hanged there.

The cameras are motion sensitive so than they only start recording if something is moving in it’s field of direction.

At the time of the recording the courthouse was closed and nobody was in the building, plus it was daytime so that rules out the possibility of someone shining a flash light through the window.

As well if someone had broken into the building it would have set of the alarms.

So what was it? Employees there have plenty of theories and stories to tell but no answers!

Woman claims she Haunted by DEAD brothers Ghost

Donna Ayres believes she’s being haunted by her dead brother’s ghost, and she says she’s got the proof.

The 33 year old mother of four said she had a troubled relationship with her brother, Paul, who died in 2009.

Now living in Burnley, Lancashire, England, she said that she’s had to move five times in order to try and get away from the spirit, but each time it has followed her.

She said, “Ever since my brother died strange things have occurred in every house I’ve lived in, it’s been a living hell.”

Donna said that on one occasion was she was even pinned down on her bed which resulted in bruises saying, “Probably the worst time was when I was pinned to the bed, I’ll never forget it, it was very traumatic.”

She went on to say, “I believe this is happening because death has always followed me, but I have strong suspicions the spirit could be my brother, who died when I was younger.”

“We had a very troubled relationship, perhaps that’s why he’s come back to haunt me.”

She said she began trying to capture the ghost with her camera phone after people began doubting her story, and now she believes she has angered the ghost because the spooky encounters have become more common.

Donna said, “The paranormal activity first began in 2009 when I started to hear banging at night, and then scratches appeared on the wall.”

“Since these first encounters I’ve had seen continuing paranormal activity in every house I’ve lived in, I’m just at the end of my tether.”

She added that, “It’s hard to get the footage as sometimes the paranormal activity is too quick to film, but I think I’ve done well to catch what I have with a basic camera phone.”

Her videos have sparked a debate on social media, with a many paranormal investigators offering to conduct a thorough investigation into the disturbances.

Sefton Paranormal Investigators has said that if the video footage is genuine, this type of paranormal phenomenon would be classified as a poltergeist, a supernatural being often blamed for physical disturbances.”
