Poltergeist Movie CURSE – The Untold Story

Steven Spielberg’s 1982 movie terrified a entire generation, but very few know about the real story behind the movie or the curse that has followed the actors and crew who made this horror classic.

If you’ve never seen the movie it’s about an ordinary family who are tormented by an evil spirit which later takes the youngest daughter, Carol Anne, into another realm.

The film is loosely based on what happened in the Long Island, New York, home when the Hermann family were plagued by a so-called poltergeist.

Starting in February 1958, bottle tops and jar lids suddenly popped off, ornaments started flying around the house, a bookshelf fell over and a statue of the Virgin Mary figure flew through the air, striking a mirror 12ft away.

The police were called to the home and the investigating officer was almost hit by a flying globe, and a British news paper photographer who was sent to cover the story saw his camera flashbulbs rise off a table in the house.

The family finally called turned to the church calling in a priest and then ministers from all sorts of faiths, who performed exorcisms on the front lawn. But still the paranormal events continued as parents James and Lucille Hermann and their two children Lucille 13, and James 12, became more terrified.

Experts were called in to check the house and grounds for any possible explanation as to the causes of the mysterious occurrences

Engineers confirmed that the house was structurally sound, the fire department checked water levels in the well, equipment set up in the basement which confirmed there were no land vibrations. It was truly a mystery.

And then in March of that year it all stopped as suddenly as it had started.

The Hermann’s family moved away soon after that and they believe that it’s connected to an ancient Native American burial site near the home.

Decades later when Steven Spielberg made the movie he had no idea what events he was about to set into motion.

It was soon after the movies release that the first death occurred. Actor Julian Beck, 60, who played preacher Henry Kane in the movies sequel, died of stomach cancer while the movie was in theaters.

Will Sampson was next, he had the role of a Native American shaman and he died after undergoing a heart-lung transplant.

Lou Perryman, who had a small part in the movie was killed in 2009 when an ex-convict friend attacked him with an axe at his home in Austin, Texas.

Heather O'Rourke died aged 12

But the most shocking of all was little Heather O’Rourke, who played Carol Anne Freeling in the movie.

She was misdiagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 1987 and died the following year of a heart attack as doctors operated on a bowel obstruction. She was only 12.

It wasn’t just death that haunted those who made the movie, Author James Kahn, who wrote a book of the movie story said that seconds after he wrote the line ‘Lightning ripped open the sky’ the building that he was in was struck by lightening and all the video games in the began playing themselves.

It may all be just a coincident or NOT!
