My family moved around a lot when we were younger because my dad seemed to be in a rather unstable business. Anyways, there was one house in particular we lived in when I was around 5 and 6 when it was just scary every time the lights went out. I thought I was brave for my age because usually I wasn’t afraid of the dark. But in this house I was. Like when the lights went out, it felt like something bad immediately filled the air.

Once, when I was lying in bed, too afraid to fall asleep immediately, there seemed to be a figure at the end of my room, directly opposite my bed. I tried to focus my eyes as it got closer and I felt sewn into my bed. It was a little girl, about the same age as I was, I saw, when she came close enough and my eyes had adjusted to the darkness. What was especially wrong was that her neck was at an odd angle, like the same angle a dog holds their head when they’re trying to understand something. And it may have been the moonlight, but she looked very pale. It felt like forever had passed before she said, “You?”

She smiled a very scary smile right then and I screamed and thrashed in my bed. By the time my parents got to my room, she disappeared.

James: 9/10 Ooh, I do not like children ghosts one bit. Thanks for sharing the scares!
