Knock knock

My family and I used to live in this old house it was built in 1927.  We lived there for about 3 years and one particular experience stuck with me.

This house had three bedrooms and an attic room.  My sister decided she wanted her room to be the attic.  One night me and my sister were up late just talking and hanging out.  It was about 11 pm to 1 am and we heard a two distinct knocks at the lower door at the foot of the staircase.  Too get to the attic you had to go through two doors one at the bottom of the stair and one at the top.   We heard this knock knock and went down to investigate.  We did not open the door we thought maybe my brother was playing a trick on us or something.  We did however ask if anyone was there and no one answered.

So we just went back up stairs and didn’t think nothing of it.  About 5 min later there was a knock knock on the top door going into the attic.  We both froze and I got up enough nerve to ask if someone was there then I just told whatever it was to go away.  We waited about 5 min if that and I slowly opened the door.  There was no one there.  The catch here is this house is old and those stairs creek so bad me and my brother had tried so many times to get up those stairs with out my sister hearing us and she could hear us by the 5th step.  We tried walking all the way to the wall on the side of the stairs nothing worked, but something went up the stairs without any detection.  We ended up going back down stairs and opening the door and asking my mom, who was asleep, if she had gotten up and she said no.  We had to wake my brother up because he was fast asleep he knew nothing and my dad was gone at work still.  Lets just say we didn’t sleep well that night.
