Ft. Mackinac in Mackinac Island, Michigan:Ft. Mackinac was…

Ft. Mackinac in Mackinac Island, Michigan:

Ft. Mackinac was constructed in 1782 by #British #soldiers to control passage between #LakeHuron and #LakeMichigan via the Straits of #Mackinac. It was the site of several violent battles between British and American forces during the War of 1812, and is said to be #haunted by the #spirits of soldiers from both sides who fell in battle. Tourists visiting the old #fortress also report witnessing the #apparitions of several young children who were killed during a #TyphoidFever outbreak, and whose disembodied sobs and cries of pain are allegedly heard by many. During the summer months Ft. Mackinac employs a number of actors to perform #historical reenactments of life at the fort, many of whom have reported experiencing other strange #paranormal phenomena, such as hearing the sounds of disembodied musket fire and men shouting, and witnessing objects moving by themselves. Ft. Mackinac was added to the National Register of #Historic Places in October of 1966.
