An Unwelcome Visitor

spooky-queen submitted:

Several years ago, me, my sister, and my younger cousin were hanging out at my house in the country. My parents were out for one reason or another, so we were totally alone. It was growing dark outside, and after we’d eaten a pizza and watched a movie or two we were getting pretty bored. My sister, just goofing off, said we should play with a oujia board, but since we didn’t actually have one we made it out of the empty pizza box. So, yeah, we were just being stupid, and at the time nobody was taking it seriously. We brought our ‘oujia’ into the living room, sat in a circle in front of the fireplace and used a glass in place of a planchette. With the lights turned dim and the darkness outside growing, my sister started asking questions. She said, “Is there anyone here with us?“

We waited for about a minute. Even though nothing was happening, I could feel a weird sort of tension in the air and felt uneasy. She repeated the question a second time, and the glass slid over to "Yes.”

My sister then asked something along the lines of, “What is your name?"

The glass slid over several different letters, spelling mostly gibberish, but then it moved over the letters J, O, S, E, P, H.

She asked him, "How did you die?”

‘Joseph’ spelled out, “WATER”.

She then said, “Where did you die?”

He said, “YES,” and then, “HERE”.

When we first started this whole thing, I thought she was bullshitting with me and my cousin. But now my sister genuinely looked freaked out as well. For some reason I can’t quite comprehend, she asked him if he liked any of us. ‘Joseph’ spelled out the first six letters of my name and then spewed off in a violently fast succession of random numbers and letters. We were all beyond horrified. I said we should close the conversation and get rid of the board. My sister said, “We’re leaving now. Good-bye.”

The glass moved to ‘NO.’

“We are leaving. Good-bye.”

This went on for a short while longer, but eventually ‘Joseph’ stopped responding. All three of us were quite disturbed and my sister, knowing we would get in trouble if our parents found our ‘oujia board’, burned it in the fireplace.

Still feeling unsettled, we decided to play Hide-n-Seek with our ten-year-old cousin. I still thought it would be a bad idea after what we had just experienced, but my cousin and sister insisted on playing it. So we did. They had me counting while they ran off to hide. It’s worth mentioning that we had almost all the lights in the house turned on at this point.

So anyway, I looked around without much luck in finding them- until I remembered my sister’s room. It is on the opposite end of our house, away from the other bedrooms, so I thought somebody might be hiding back there. When I entered, her room was dark. The first thought that came to mind was that both my cousin and sister were hiding back there, waiting for a chance to scare me. But I looked under her bed, behind the door, everywhere. They were nowhere in her room.

To get this next part, you must understand something a little unique about her bathroom. Instead of having a normal closet, there is an empty space behind her bathroom door where my parents had fixed something of a closet for her. And when you open the door at the right angle, you can see back into the space.

I figured someone must be hiding behind the shower curtain in her bathroom, so I opened the door. And froze.

Staring at me from the other side of the door, just enough to where I could see it from the space between door and wall, was a bone white face. Perfectly smooth. Two large, dark sockets where the eyes should be. I stared at it in silence. It stared back at me, moving slowly from side to side as if swaying. I didn’t scream. This went on for maybe five seconds. As soon as I realized what was happening, I slowly closed the door back and walked out. My sister and cousin were coming from the other end of the house, wondering what was taking so long.

To this day, I still don’t know what it was looking at me from the other side of my sister’s bathroom door. I still think it might have been ‘Joseph’, but the brief sight of him, as well as the eerie, cold feeling he brought, will remain with me forever.

Fuck Yeah Nightmares Mod James: 10/10 FUck I like this one. Hella spooky stuff even with a homemade ouija board. Thanks for sharing the scares!
