(Not my photos)

Newaygo #HighSchool in Newaygo, #Michigan is rumored to be #haunted by the #spirit of a former #student who was killed after being bit by a #rattlesnake in 1985. According to stories told by students the girl dressed in only #black, and was considered a social #outcast by classmates. She often spent time during study periods in a small patch of #woods located near a large #pond by the #school where she would listen to #music, read #books, eat, and smoke #cigarettes by herself. Its said that one day while the girl sat alone on a rock she was bitten on the hand after failing to notice a rattlesnake coiled up nearby. Although no evidence exists to verify these stories and faculty members claim no student was ever killed by a #snake while attending the school, some still claim to encounter the spirit of a female student wandering the wooded area behind Newaygo High School, watching students from a distance.

St. Louis Cathedral
New Orleans, Louisiana

Lousiana is one of the country’s most infamous states when it comes to the supernatural. It is one of the oldest churches around and has a breathtaking view. Well-known personalities in history, such as voodoo queen Marie Laveau and french socialite Delphine Lalaurie, are just two of the many devoted people to set foot in here. These women were known for their love for the dark arts and slave torture; they are said to be two of the many entities walking among the living in the cathedral. People have also witnessed the apparitions of 6 men who were executed on the church grounds.

The Kreischer Mansion
Staten Island, New York.

It’s said some houses are cursed. That certainly seems the case for the Kreischer Mansion in Staten Island where tragedy and murder seem to be part of the very fabric of the building. Built in the late 1800s for Edward Kreischer by his father, when the family business failed, Edward took his own life in his home. Although the ghosts of Edward and his distraught wife are often sighted haunting the hallways, a more grisly event took place at the mansion in 2005. Joseph Young was working as the caretaker at the property but was also involved with the Bonnano crime family. They ordered a hit on Robert McKelvey, and Young was elected to execute it. After luring McKelvey to the property, Young then stabbed and drowned him in the pool. After chopping up the body he then burned it in the furnace under the house. Eventually, Young was sentenced to life in prison, but the ghosts of the Kreischer mansion remain to this day.

Lakeville Cemetery in Leonard, Michigan:

(Not my photos)

Lakeville #Cemetery in Leonard, #Michigan (sometimes listed as Lakeville) was established in 1843, and is the subject of several strange and mysterious #UrbanLegends. Most of these #legends center around a large #mausoleum which was constructed for James and Elizabeth Dunn, who passed away in 1930 and 1952, respectively. One story passed down by locals over the years claims that the location is #haunted by the #spirit of a man who was somehow locked inside the old mausoleum overnight, which allegedly caused him to become so overcome with fear he committed #suicide. Some stories also claim that the mausoleum was used by a #SerialKiller to hide dismembered bodies, however none of these claims are backed by #historical evidence or are otherwise able to be proven. Another well known #UrbanLegend claims that the Dunn mausoleum is haunted by the #ghosts of a teenage boy and girl who were found #dead after being dared to spend the night inside. Additionally, very few firsthand accounts of #paranormal activity at Lakeville Cemetery are available for reference.

mysteriousplanchette:

Sending out *another* shout-out to my amazing BFF and fortune-telling collector extraordinaire @brandieknight1980 for hooking me up with this rare set of J.H. Singer “Cards of Fate” from the 1890s. Singer is on my radar thanks to the positively beautiful “Mystic Wanderer” tabletop séance game that’s always a hit here (similar to the Vishnu, posted Tuesday), and I featured these cards on my website years ago but never had the opportunity to add a set to my collection until Brandie ran across a spare set and sent them my way. THANK YOU!
