This picture was taken on a film camera in 2005 in Salem, Massachusetts outside of a reported haunted house. Salem is one of the most haunted cities in the world. This picture has changed over time. When first developed a cloud of white ectoplasm appeared over the window. Over the years you can now see two children on the right and two other faces on the left.

Skin-WalkerIn Navajo culture a skin-walker is a person who has…

Skin-Walker

In Navajo culture a skin-walker is a person who has the ability to transform themselves into whatever animal they desire, usually wolves, coyotes, bears and owls. They gain their abilities by committing some kind of cultural taboo and are mostly men, though it is possible to get the occasional female skin-walker.

Once a person becomes a skin-walker they usually start to hate people and this can drive them to attack and kill humans. In some stories a skin-walker will go as far as breaking into people’s houses and cars in order to attack people. Skin-walkers have also been noted to turn into other people. A simple thing like making eye contact with a skin-walker can allow them to transform into you. A tell-tale sign of a person being a skin-walker is their eyes. They will glint in light like animal eyes when they are in a human form but not when they are disguised as an animal.

To prevent skin-walkers from obtaining animal skins to change themselves the Navajo tattoo the pelts of any wolves, coyotes or bears that they obtain in order to keep track of them. Skin-walkers are near impossible to kill. They are fast, agile and impossible to catch. The only two ways to shoot a skin-walker is to dip the bullets into white ash beforehand or to shoot them while in their real, human form.

People All Over the World Are Reporting Sleep Paralysis Creatures Known as Night Hags

Jason woke up every night feeling pinned to his bed. The terror was very real. He could feel an unknown presence looming above him in the darkness. His hobby of photography had recently taken him to several reportedly haunted locations. Did something follow him home?

Jason has always been intrigued by abandoned buildings. A recent road trip with a handful of fellow photographers brought them to several paranormal hotspots. They spent a few hours at each location, focusing on the architecture and scenery. While he didn’t necessarily get any creepy vibes while shooting the location, he still worried that something might have tagged along for the ride. What else could have woken him up in the middle of the night? The possibilities are as follows:

1. Sleep Paralysis

According to sleep researchers, a phenomena known as Sleep Paralysis, also called Old Hag Syndrome can cause you to become paralyzed while waking. When we fall into REM sleep, our bodies automatically paralyzes themselves, with the exception of eye movement and breathing. This prevents us from hurting ourselves while we dream. Acting out a dream of running or falling could create serious damage to ourselves or our bed mates if this didn’t happen. In rare situations, sometimes the mind wakes up before the body does, which essentially paralyzes us, but leaves us fully aware. Some people who encounter this, also report the feeling of being watched or seeing something in the room with them. Many of them see an old hag-like creature sitting on their chests, pinning them to the bed. That’s where the theory gets interesting.

Typically, people who research sleep issues seldom delve into the paranormal probabilities. It’s far easier to explain a situation with proven scientific theories behind them than it is to blame it on something like ghosts or demons, but it still bears discussion. Can ghosts actually cause sleep paralysis? Is there any truth behind the Night Hag concept?

According to psychic medium, Barbara Williams, there could be more to it than a medical condition.

“Yes. There can be cases of entities holding someone down. It may be rare, but people can have attachments and possession,” she said.

2. Paranormal Entities

Ghosts can and will attach themselves to the living. While many of them roam the earth with no desire to interact with their living counterparts, many others have darker intentions. They latch onto the living, using them as energy food sources while finding delight in tormenting their days and nights. I know this firsthand, after contending with a malevolent entity in 2011, something I documented in my book The Soul Collector.

In Jason’s case, I asked him if he had any other experiences that could point towards a haunting, such as items disappearing, mysterious sounds in empty rooms or a feeling of being watched. Thankfully, he hadn’t. That led me to another question. I asked him if he could sometimes control the direction of his dreams.

Was he lucid dreaming?

3. Lucid Dreaming

People who are able to control their dreams are lucid dreaming. By realizing they are dreaming, they can take their dreams in any direction they want to. Unfortunately, a side effect of this is inadvertent sleep paralysis. In Jason’s case, he’s had one experience where he was able to control his fear and fully wake himself up, which could be the start of lucid dreaming.

Understanding all the circumstances surrounding a Night Hag episode is essential to stopping the process from reoccurring. If this happens to you, do your homework and then work on finding a solution that fits your situation.

If it’s truly a Night Hag, then you have your work cut out for you. Seek the assistance of an experienced psychic medium to help you clear your energy.

Can Ghosts Move Things?

We are all familiar with stories of ghosts making spooky noises at night, or flickering lights and knocking on walls. Many of us have experienced this first hand, but can ghosts actually move things?

Yes, it is technically possible for ghosts to move things.Experiencing a ghost moving something right in front of you is one thing, but catching the paranormal activity on tape is something else. It can be so hard to prove what ghosts do and don’t do, as we aren’t always ready with a camera when they do actually give us notice of their presence.

Poltergeists are a type of ghost that are notorious for moving objects around, making loud noises and hiding objects around the house.

The actual name poltergeist is an amalgamation of two German words, poltern, meaning crash, and geist meaning ghost or spirit.

In most reported cases of objects moving around the house, or disappearing only to be found in an obscure place, poltergeists have been held responsible.

Usually, poltergeist activity starts with small, isolated incidents which many people write off, thinking nothing of them.

The most popular way for poltergeist activity to start is by the spirit hiding familiar objects, such as your car keys around the house.

This can progress to loud bangs on walls, footsteps at night or objects flying around the room right in front of you.

How Do Ghosts Move Objects

This is still highly debated about, but some believe that as ghosts are a form of energy, they can manifest this energy into a physical push or throw of an object.

They would have to be quite a strong entity to pull this off, but it is thought that ghosts can draw energy from electrical devices, often draining them of battery, or from sucking the heat from a room, causing cold spots.

Moving objects around is one of the best ways for a ghost to let you know they are present, how could you deny a plate flying across the room for absolutely no reason at all?

Signs Of A Poltergeist In Your Home

If you have experienced strange happenings in your home and suspect there might be some form of ghostly energy about, you might want to find out if it is a poltergeist that is present.

Here are some of the main signs to look out for in a poltergeist haunting:

Objects Disappearing

Disappearing objects are usually the first sign that there is poltergeist activity in the home.

Many people actually don’t notice this happening and think that they have just been distracted or forgetful about where they have placed certain items.

You think you have left your keys on the counter, the place where you always leave them, and then cannot find them all of a sudden.

Later during the day, or even days later, your keys might appear exactly where you left them, or in a place where you would never leave them.

This phenomenon has a name, the Disappearing Object Phenomenon. It is very common with poltergeist activity and shows the mischievous nature of poltergeists.

Objects Moving

How frightening must it be to watch a plate levitate above the kitchen counter, or knives fly across the room for no reason at all?

Moving objects can be as small as a pen falling off the desk, or books and knick-knacks suddenly crashing down off of a shelf.

Moving objects, especially objects levitating and flying off shelves, is a sign that there is a strong poltergeist activity in your home, and it might be time to become concerned (as if you weren’t already!).

Strange Scents

Poltergeists, or ghosts in general, are known to cause strange scents and odors around the house, often with no cause at all.

Spirits often have a familiar scent or smell that appears when they are around in a room. It might have to do with residual haunting or something that you associated strongly with a loved one who has passed on.

Electrical Interference

Ghosts and poltergeists are really notorious for causing electrical interference. The theory goes that because they are a form of energy themselves, they can manipulate and interfere with electrical energy.

You might be woken up suddenly at 2am to the sounds of your stereo turning on and blasting out a song, or the lights flickering when you are in a room.

Another way poltergeists and ghosts interfere with energy is by draining battery from electrical devices, or causing them to malfunction.

This is why ghosts hunters and investigators always carry spare batteries around.

Sudden Power

Poltergeists like using their energy to reanimate objects that maybe haven’t worked for a year, or which are lying lifeless.

A good example is what you often find in horror movies, you hear the sound of a laughing toy over your baby’s monitor in the middle of the night. Thinking the toy was never switched off, you go and flick it on and off.

You might hear the sound again that night, go to remove the batteries and see that there were no batteries at all.

Poltergeists also bring old antique pieces to life, like an antique clock that hasn’t worked for decades sitting on your counter.

It can suddenly begin to tock and chime. This phenomenon can be really frightening, as it is something we watch on horror movies often, and those never have happy endings!

Knocks and Footsteps

The unexplained sounds of knocking, rappings or footsteps are very often associated with poltergeist hauntings.

They almost try to drive you insane with knocking throughout the night, or the sound of footsteps above you when you only have a one-floor home.

The knocking noises, and footsteps, often have no cause and are inexplicable.

Attacks

Physical attacks from poltergeists only happen when it is a particularly strong haunting, and they are absolutely terrifying.

What makes the occurrence more terrifying is that the attacks often happen to young, vulnerable children, often in emotional turmoil.

They might wake up with scratches across their back, feel sharp slaps across their face or be pushed down the stairs.

While these physical attacks aren’t common, there are reports of them happening in the past, and most have been left unexplained.
