GOD BLESS AMERICA | a southern gothic mix

Songs for the fear of hellfire, for the wind that carries unanswered prayers, for the witches still out there who didn’t burn nor drown nor hang, and for the one black heart that beats the same underneath a ghost town, a dry-cracked wasteland and a deep dark bayou

IN WORDS DROWN I
One of the Ghost Traps I made a few years ago.
The golden skull attracts the ghost’s attention, the palindrome fascinates it, and the graveyard earth gives it a place to settle.
Use it to help clear your house of minor spirits. (And I guess if you are really bad you could place one in a cemetery for a month then smash it in the home of an enemy, but that sort of thing risks backfiring.)

This is quite neat – like fly paper for spirits.

BUT, if a ghost is smart enough to be amused or fascinated by a palindrome, that means it’s sentient and intelligent. If so, what the hell is wrong with just talking to them? Don’t trap them in bottles – say hi you fucking cowards.

(I would however use a variation of this spell if I had to transport ghosts with me to somewhere else and they needed an anchor point.)

Cross

Cross

Just to say i dont believe in the paranormal but i have always been interested in hearing peoples stories. This is one my gran would tell me and my siblings when she was still alive, to scare us in to going to church (it didnt work) it goes like this

It took place in the house she lived in as a child just before she moved to the uk before ww2 so she would have been about 15 or 16. The house its self was in rome. It wasn’t anything too fancy, it was in a block of about 4 other houses built at the turn of the century. It had 3 floors above street level and a basement/cellar below.

So one day my gran was on the top floor of the house, her mum and dad were out and she was by her self. She was doing her washing, the house was silent when all of a sudden she heard a scream, the kind that makes you feel sick when you hear it, coming from the floor below her. Terrified( the house was empty at this point) she went to see what made the noise. As she got to the foot of the stairs she could see that the room was empty. Nothing. Understandably creeped out, she made her way back up when she heard the same scream from two floors down this time. Still scared she when down stairs and still no one. The room got very cold and the window shutters blew shut. The cross my gran wore round her neck (like the good catholic girl she was) began to heat up, burning the cross in to her chest. A voice started to chant something in latin behind her. She blacked out and her parents found her curled up in a ball in the basement reciting prayers.

I dont think it really happened but it’s still creepy nonetheless.

James: 7/10 For the sake of my own entertainment, I’m going to say your grandma was telling the truth. Thanks for sharing!
